Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Claims Involving Wide Receiver the Athlete

The NFL franchise issued a statement on Wednesday evening indicating they are aware of claims of abuse made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and had been in communication with the NFL.

The team did not mention Rice by name in their announcement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice by name, shared a series of photos on Instagram that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. She stated the person involved was the father of her children, and it is known she has two children with Rice, whom the Chiefs selected in the second round.

No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles

Rice missed the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his role in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that left multiple people hurt. Rice was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

Statistically, he concluded the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
